The morning's opening panel gave an overview of activities under the CCRD project that support climate services, including the development of the Climate Services Partnership and various capacity-building initiatives for meteorological agencies around the world. The session also looked at other USAID efforts around climate services, including a presentation of the SERVIR project, a joint venture between The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and USAID, as well as the International Research Applications Program (IRAP), a joint project among USAID, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Columbia University, and the University of Arizona. USAID’s SERVIR lead is Jenny Frankel-Reed, Senior Climate Change Specialist.

The last panel discussion of the ACRD Symposium provided a look ahead at some of USAID’s newer activities related to climate change adaptation including a presentation on the USAID Climate Change Adaptation Assessments, Thought Leadership, and Learning (ATLAS) project by André Mershon (USAID), responses to the Executive Order on Climate-
Resilient International Development by Becky Chacko (USAID), a new Public-Private Partnership on
Climate Data and Information, and a knowledge management portal by Amy Daniels (USAID).
