Through the Adaptation Partnership, participants representing nine Western Indian Ocean (WIO) countries and global NGOs,
convened in Cape Town, South Africa to identify climate change capacity
building needs for coastal and marine protected areas (MPAs) in the WIO region. The priorities that emerged at the Climate Change Workshop for Coastal and
Marine Protected Areas included: Understanding climate change; Improved data
and information; Education and awareness; Vulnerability assessment; and Alternative
